Archiving

One of the greatest benefits of the internet is the chance stumbling one does onto many great things of interest that would have never been found otherwise. This painting, for instance, I just saw today and can be found here under "Serenade", along with many other beautiful works.

I just finished archiving all of my old Tumblr posts. I will work on my old Xanga posts later. It will take a lot more time since I wrote on there regularly for some time.

Anywho, enjoy the older posts if you will!

Everything Important

I hate blogging. Kinda.

I have so many important things I want to talk about, yet:

  • I am tired. Me no want writie.
  • It takes so long to explain everything in my head. A two second thought consists of too many words to type.
  • Real life is not really that entertaining. I am not a fan of reality T.V. I love movies. Movies=mostly fantastical/exaggerated depictions of real life to entertain/make a point/whatever. Blogging about real life is like the reality t.v. of words.
  • Who cares, really? I mean, who will read this regularly except me, Brandon, and maybe Wren? Really.
  • I have good movies to watch, good books to read. "3:10 to Yuma" arrived from Netflix today. It already rocks and I'm not even done with it. Hurrah for great flicks! Finished re-reading Dune and am on to Dune Messiah. Hurrah for good books!
  • It's easier to talk about meaningless nothings than the meat of my day that matters to me.
  • Bowen wears me out. And today was a GOOD day!

"When religion and politics travel in the same cart, the riders believe nothing can stand in their way. Their movement becomes headlong-faster and faster and faster. They put aside all thought of obstacles and forget that a precipice does not show itself to the man in a bland rush until it's too late."

Another Blog, Another Day

I have been privately using Blogger for some time now. I used to use Xanga. I wrote once on MySpace (eek), and most recently was updating Tumblr regularly. Now, back to Blogger.

I am doing this to force my memory and keep up with friends. I have recently realized the full extent to which my crappy memory has made me forget about my life, my past. So, I'm resolved to update regularly mostly for my own benefit. However, I do hope a few good friends will check up with me every once in awhile! I'll be posting all sorts of crap, from my daily life to my interests to funny video to some random bits of news that got me thinking/pissed off. I have a feeling that a few people may get pissed off at my strong opinions and even more may be shocked at the opinions they never knew I had. I invite you to argue with me or just plain yell if you feel like it. I may or may not discuss depending on mood and level of intelligence. ;)

I am considering archiving a lot of my old posts from the aforementioned sites once I get this one tweaked to my liking. Tell me what you think and keep checking back!

Edit later: Okay, I've decided to archive some of my old posts from other blogs, tumblr, and maaaaybe Xanga if I have the energy.

Bits and Pieces

I feel so overwhelmed that I purposefully don't write. There is so much going on, so much I am thinking about, so much to that makes me feel genuinely moved, angered, enlivened, diverted, amused, hopeful, confused, downtrodden, excited, nervous, or any other shade of emotion.

  • I need to finish my novel. I'm scared to do it. It feels like a mountain, huge, looming ominously over my subconscious. I don't believe in myself.
  • I love/hate the internet. For so MANY reasons.
  • Politics. By God, I used to hate hearing about politics. I still kinda do... maybe I just hate politicians. But, I find myself caring so much because I am a parent, a citizen, a world-citizen, a humanist with an agenda. Fuck conservatives. Now the question is: which Dem to vote for? Leaning towards Barack. Hope is a powerful draw for me.
  • Computers, desks, clutter, dirtiness, or general disorder are driving me mad. MUST simplify.
  • I will live in a yurt at some time in my life. It's one of those unusual, green, kooky, hippie things I plan to accomplish just so I can say: "I did that!"
  • Excited about the new Disney/Pixar movie, Wall-E! Looks great! Reminds me of "Short Circuit" and "E.T." because of the eyes. It's worth looking into. Good teasers online:

Politically Speaking...

The Return

Back from Christmas traveling, back on Tumblr, recovering from being sick.

I just got to talk to Lauren, probably my oldest friend, with whom I have not talked in years. We grew up in good ol’ BA together, getting into so much trouble and having so much fun. Her mom was the first real surrogate parent I had. Her mom was the first of many to come who shaped my life into something much brighter than my home life. Her mom was the first suicide I ever knew, the first of many which irrevocably formed my feelings about death, loss, grief, life…

Because of the hustle and bustle of life, we lost touch after our first year of college. We still kind of kept up with each other over the internet from e-mail and blogs. It was so great to chat with her. We are planning on getting together while we are still on Christmas break since she is only two hours away for the duration.

It’s unnerving talking to her. It’s the most mixed experience. At once I feel weird and uncertain because we were so different the last time I saw her in person. And yet, it is the most fun and familiar feeling talking to her again because we both know so much about each other. When you know someone from such an early age you truly know who they are, what they are composed of, what is fundamental to their person. It is so natural to fall back into the familiarity of our friendship and yet the diplomatic adult in me suggests that I must proceed with caution lest I offend someone whose outward manners have changed.

How funny we humans are. We change, yet stay the exact same, and change again.
